DALE NELSON: Concerto In C
OWNERS: Charlie and Jennie Barwell
DATE: 18TH June
CONDITIONS: Moderate to rough

18:30 hrs
Took the wheel for an evening trial to the Islands of Skomer and Skokholm, which Rick and I had been really looking forward to.

18:55hrs
Rounded St Ann's Head, sea state rougher than I expected (NW5). Mike smiled reassuringly, told me to keep speed up and we continued for South Haven, Skomer.

19:15hrs
Entered Broad Sound at 17 knots, seas head on, glad I listened, boat amazing, totally at home in the conditions. Through Broad Sound and into South Haven, in lee of Skomer, throttled back, to witness incredible sight: thousands of birds landing and taking off, puffins, guillemots, shearwaters, gulls, unbelievable sight, incredible noise.

19:40hrs
Return journey via South Haven Skokholm. Following seas- Mike tells me to increase speed to 20 knots. Rang Jen to share experience, the boat's amazing, I'm absolutely delighted.

19:55hrs
Arrived South Haven Skokholm, entrance narrow, more birds. What a sight! What an experience!

20:15hrs
Head for St Ann's Head, port beam seas, really in tune with our my boat, 23 knots. Turned to Mike, Roger and Rick with huge grin on my face, they could see I was delighted, I never thought I'd be out in such rough conditions, let alone enjoy it.

20:55hrs
Arrived Neyland.
